Indigenous Life Promotion

Indigenous life promotion refers to the promotion of well-being and quality of life among Indigenous peoples, taking into account their unique cultural, historical, and societal context. This approach recognizes that the well-being of Indigenous peoples is influenced by a complex interplay of factors, including their relationship with the land and natural environment, and their experiences of colonization, oppression and discrimination.

Indigenous life promotion seeks to empower Indigenous peoples to reclaim and maintain control over their own well-being, drawing on their own cultural strengths, traditions and wisdom.

This can involve incorporating Indigenous knowledge systems, ceremonies, and practices into well-being initiatives, as well as addressing the root causes of social and economic disadvantage that contribute to poor health outcomes among Indigenous communities.

The goal of Indigenous life promotion is to support the overall health, wellness, and quality of life of Indigenous peoples, and to help them to thrive in their communities and cultures.
